Two crucial skills for success that we try to develop in our students are creativity and problem-solving. In addition, we ourselves encounter problems and decisions every day. In Making Up Your Own Mind: Thinking Effectively through Creative Puzzle-Solving, Edward B. Burger, the president of Southwestern University and a mathematics professor, shows how we can become better at solving real-world problems by learning creative puzzle-solving skills using simple, effective thinking techniques. Burger helps the reader practice techniques such as asking good questions, failing and trying again, and changing one’s mind by using fun verbal and visual puzzles. The 136-page book was released by Princeton University Press in November. It is available for $13.89 on Amazon and $9.99 in Kindle format.
